Who Will Be Winners And Losers Of Social Media In 2013?
Online presence of “netizens” is increasing so as the unique online users. Social media is becoming a new trend. Android has emerged as the biggest platform and plenty of social media apps has been developed. More and more people are entering blogosphere. So, what all these facts suggest? Simple! They suggest that apart from individual comparison, social media as a whole has experienced growth. Nelson has conducted a survey at mid - 2012. The results were quite surprising. If we take users as criteria for growth, Pinterest had emerged as emerged as clear winner. Pinterest has registered 1047% increase in unique PC user base. The vary media has also witnessed the 1698% and 4225% increase in mobile app downloading and mobile web users respectively. In a surprising way desktop user base of facebook has decreased but to a better compensation mobile app users along with mobile audience for the same network has increased quite efficiently.

So, here we are with our logical prediction what will be the trend in 2013? And who will be winners and losers of social media in 2013?
Potential Winners:
1. YouTube:
Being the largest platform for video sharing we believe in the potential of the very social media. As we have seen with Pinterest, net audience is leaning toward visual presentations. The major potential of the media lies in a human being’s desire to be a cynosure that can be satisfied with You Tube. You can be popular overnight if you video gets organic hits.
2. WhatsApp:
Yes we know very well that this is only a messenger app and that is also only available for smart phones. But believe me the sources at WhatsApp clearly indicating that the developers have decided to expand. They are planning to add more media features and with increasing trend of mobile net users this app will have an upper hand. We may not see a user base as good as facebook or twitter but as with Pinterest we are expecting a bullish growth here in terms of percentage.
Potential Losers:
1. Linked In:
This social media is popularly known as professional social network. But in last couple of years we have not seen any major upcoming or trends. Its meter was showing an unchanged figure in survey of Nelson. Behind the growth of social media there are two basic factors. One is entertainment and other is marketing. Unfortunately the first factor is missing with this particular network. If they don’t feel the need of redefining their outlook bad or may be worst is waiting for them.
Potential Travelers of Ambiguous Path:
1. Facebook:
It is the biggest and most successful social media. Yes they have the biggest user base. But they have been facing problem of slow mobile app response (poor design in terms of functionality). On the other hand as they have developed Timeline couple of years ago they are planning for a new “beta search” feature. They are also planning for redesigning of website an app without changing the basic theme and outline. Fingers crossed for facebook.
2. Twitter:
Yes there are plenty of mobile platform clients are available for the network. Twitter has gained status of business app too because of its marketing potential. Still as far as innovations are concerned they have become stagnant. Wait and watch for their future directions.
So, dear readers stay on your computing device. An interesting battle on the battleground of online world is waiting for you.
